Mehmet KOÇ
Born in the village of Kavakyani in Bayburt in 1971, Mehmet Koç continued his primary education here. After completing his middle school, high school and university education in Istanbul, he graduated from Istanbul Technical University Electronics and Communication Engineering in 1994.
Koç, who first started his career as a System Engineer in the public sector, decided to quit his job after a while and founded Rams Computer with his three friends. Here he met the maritime software project and thus took his first step into the maritime sector.
In the maritime sector, which he started as a manager since 1998, he continued various activities, especially ferry passenger transportation and dry cargo transportation. In 2003, he sold the passenger vessel, of which he was a partner, to Nesma Holding of Saudi Arabia. Koç, which carries out maritime transport on the Bandırma-Harem and Bandırma – Ambarlı lines for passenger and vehicle transportation in Marmara, established Etis Lojistik A.Ş. With the participation of Gübretaş in 2008, Negmar Shipping Investment Inc. was established in partnership with Nesma, Etis and Gübretaş.
Continuing to grow rapidly since its establishment, Negmar acquired the Gök Denizcilik company in 2013 and started the Narlı Ferry operating on the Eskihisar- Tavşanlı line. Again in the same year, it added 2 MGS LPG vessels to its fleet, which it ordered from the South Korean Hyundai Shipyard, breaking new ground in Turkey.
In 2018, Negmar Partners left the company, and Etis Logistics and Narlı Feribot became a 100% Mehmet Koç company under the umbrella of Negmar. Negmar has incorporated many companies from many different fields such as technology, real estate, fertilizer, mobile software, game companies, train ferry transportation and organic food, especially maritime transportation and logistics.
As of 2021, Negmar continues to grow with a turnover of 60 million dollars, a profit of 10 million dollars and 500 personnel. Realizing the importance of entrepreneurship in the country’s economy at a young age and starting to work on the idea of raising new entrepreneurs, Koç was nominated for the Young Businessmen Foundation’s Presidential Candidate in 2010 and started his duty as the President of the Foundation.
